Looking for a way to prevent my elderly Alzheimer’s mother in-law from getting out of bed at night. She fractured her hip & wrist ...

I have read about putting a pool noodle under the sheets at the side of the bed, making it harder to get out of bed.

Thanks for the info about the pool noodle...I have read that somewhere myself... I may try it... in the meantime I have ordered a bed alert alarm hoping that may help.

If you're desperate you could move out the bedframe and put the mattress on the floor. She can't fall, and the chances are that she can't get up either. Try it yourself for a night, and make sure it's not in a draft. I move out of our Qbed onto a mattress on the floor when I have pain problems, and it lives much better than it sounds.

Thanks Margaret .... but that will not work seeing she has had hip surgery and also not good for me either ... I have a hip problem. Toooo Low to go, but thanks anyway

Hi Marye. The bed rails work great. We have them on side and foot of the bed. Good luck.

There are concaved mattresses. Pads can be put on the floor. Lower the bed by getting a 5 in boxspring. Put up a rail if in a private home.
