Moms claiming elder abuse. Any suggestions?

She drinks heavily every night falls down runs into furniture and talks to her friends telling them I'm mean and she thinks I'm going to hurt her and I'd kill her if could get away with it. I would never hurt my mother. She wants me to move out and this is the way she's going about it. I'm here because my step dad died suddenly and she has serious health issues I am an only child I just had cervical spine surgery last week I can't go anywhere and she can't live here by herself she has no paper work , will, directive nothing she said she wants me out of her life. I'm feeling very hurt. But I don't want to go to jail for something she has made up in her mind either. I need help or advise both. We both don't have a lot of money as I've been off work due to health problems . Any suggestions?

I can understand you feeling very hurt. You have obviously run to help your stepfather and now also your mother, and she isn't being 'nice'. However it sounds as though it is her house, and she really doesn't want you there. It's her call! Leave as soon as you can. When you have gone, things may change for the better (or possibly for the worse before a crisis makes them change for the better). But for now, just accept that it's best for you to leave. Write off this bit of time to experience.

Call Adult Protection Services. Tell them the situation. Let them advise you and get their response/investigation in writing. This will protect you if Mom accuses you.

You need to get out of there. Look to see if there is a place you can rent a room... maybe a motel rent by the month?

You our need to be gone before you end up in real trouble...and it is coming!

It sounds to me that you may know that having moved in with your alcoholic mother was a mistake.

Talk to your (former?) employer and see if you can get your job back or if there is a modified duty position available for you. Failing that, find a new job or go to a temp agency and get per diem work. Get back to work and get back on your feet again (pun not intended). Look for a room to rent.

Leave as soon as you can. The longer you wait to leave the harder it will be and the deeper the hole you will have dug for yourself.

You are right except she wasn’t drinking as much then because she had diverticulitis and had a bag for a year and now she’s had that reverse and heavily drinks now

So, my husband's mom claimed that he was abusing her. He was telling her that she should no longer smoke, due to COPD.

He walked away. Let the chips fall where they did.
