Does my Grandmother hate me or want me to leave?

I am a twenty-one year old college student and I live with my grandparents while attending college. I have lived with them my whole life and think of them as my parents. Lately I've started to feel like my grandmother is constantly mad at me even when we haven't spoken that day or I haven't really done anything to her. I recently came back from a trip I took during spring break and she was already upset with me. She didn't want to hear about my time and tunes me out when I'm around. If moving out is the issue I have no problem with doing so and have a boyfriend I could easily live with once the semester is over. I really feel as though I'm not welcome in the place I've always called home.

Gma has a lot going on for 65 is the age a mistake? I agree, ask her. Maybe there is more going on here. Its not unusual to be showing signs of Dementia at 65.

I have to repeat what was just posted. Communication. Talk to her, and with love and curiosity in your voice, not in a defensive tone, even if that’s how you feel. You don’t want her to feel defensive back because then you may not receive an answer to your questions. You want to make her comfortable speaking with you.

I’m sorry that you don’t feel comfortable in your home.

Have you asked your grandmother what’s going on? Could she not approve of “college life” and all that involves? Who is paying your tuition? If it’s your grandparents, they may feel you should be working harder, getting better grades, etc., etc. At the age of 21, I know you are testing your “wings”, so to speak. In Grandma’s mind, you may still be 9 years old, if you know what I mean.

We can only guess what’s going on with Grandma. Maybe she’s not feeling well. It might not have anything to do with you. The only way you can find out is to talk to her, or maybe even Grandpa.
