LeeEps Asked January 2019

Is there a medicine that helps control overactive bladders and is safe for people with Alzheimer’s dementia?

Every time mom stands she has incontinence which is making her depressed. We used Myrbetriq but it made her hallucinate and become aggressive.

LeeEps I ordered from NorthShore brand through amazon. Haven't received yet but hopeful.

My mom is not completely incontinent and is having good luck with the Always pullup. I don't know of any instances where it failed her. Yet!

I just ordered some booster pads to put in mom's Always pullups. I hope they work. She tried poise pads but they didn't come off of the Always easily and the booster pads are MADE for going inside another product. I LOVE the idea of her being able to quickly and easily remove that pad and NOT be in a yucky wet pullup as I don't think she changes it as much as she should. I can see why - it's a lot of work, although very necessary, IMHO.

Did the doc suggest anything else besides a med? Did she go to a urologist or her PCP? My mom cancelled her urology appt which was very frustrating. I wish she would go and at least see if there is a physical reason for all these peeing issues.

Good luck.

I will try booster pads, is there a brand you use? The poise pads were awful.

She did see a urologist and he states only myrbetiq but it made her violent, hallucinate , and dizzy. Might try the always pull ups also since the attends leak.

Maybe your pharmacist could recommend a medicine that works the same way as Myrbetrique but without the same side effects? Sorry that M didn’t work for her because it has helped FIL greatly. Bummer.
Another thought....if the depends pull ups leak ( from total bladder loss)....you can add a bladder guard inside the depends....it might help to prevent so many depends changes during the day.

We have tried depends with poise pads and it still leaks. Maybe we need another product? Thanks

There is also the issue of a lifetime of prescription drugs causing a lifetimes of liver damage.

There comes a time of needing to realize the balance....is the possible benefit of the drug out weighed by the liver damage incurred at this point.

Depends for women are pretty reliable, and are pull ups...just like pants...easy to change.

Agreed, the unfortunate part is that while she is in a memory unit she had total awareness of what is happening and saddened by the hourl trips to the bathroom with continual leakage despite all attempts. Thanks for the help
