The doctor just prescribed Namenda for my Mother. Has anyone had any success with this drug?

So my mother was at her primary doctor for a check up this week. He also did a dexascan and says she has osteoporosis. He ordered prolia and says she needs that but I am not sure that she should be put on that becasue of all the sided effects.

He also put her on twice a day a 5 mg pill of Namenda.

Has anyone had any good results with this pill?

I looked on line and seen some bad and some good .. But would like to hear from anyone who has used it or giving it to someone in their care and if it is any good for dementia.

My aunt was put on aricept first and then namenda was added. Later we switched to Namzeric which is a combo of the two. She’s been on this several years.
Its very difficult to know if it helps. She is doing very well with it in that she has no known side effects and her dementia appears to be moving very slowly. We discuss whether to keep going with it and decide to continue because she is doing so well. I have no idea if the Namenda has actually helped.
Do a search on this forum and you will find more information. I’m sorry I can’t give you a more definitive answer.
