What will happen to a woman who drinks 2 bottles of Mansion House sherry a day?

She has been drinking 2 bottles a day for over a year. She has a swollen stomach and can hardly see. Also there is white spots on her eyelids and won't see a doctor or optition.

She becomes pickled!

Please forgive my reply...it is given in jest and it is late at night and I am having trouble sleeping because of my own health problems.

I am sorry that your friend is feeling so miserable that she has to drown her sorrows with 2 bottles of sherry a day. I am not sure what you are asking, but I think that you know the answer. Her health is suffering and she will end up either dead or in a nursing home before too long.

Her swollen stomach could be ASCITES which is the abnormal accumulation fluid in the abdominal cavity. The most common cause of ascites is cirrhosis of the liver. And the most common causes of ascites or cirrhosis of the liver are hepatitis B, hepatitis C, long standing ALCOHOL ABUSE or other underlying conditions, such as congestive heart failure, malignancy, and kidney disease. The outlook for patients with ascites primarily depends on its underlying cause and severity.

Complications of ascites depend on the amount of fluid in the abdomen which may cause breathing difficulties by compressing the diaphragm or forming a pleural effusion or she may develop an infection such as peritonitis (infection of the abdominal lining). https://www.medicinenet.com/ascites/article.htm#what_is_ascites

I am sorry that your friend will not see a doctor. Right now all you can do is "to be there for her" and give her a hug and positive support whenever she asks. Please feel free to come here and vent about what is happening in your friend's life and to ask questions. We will try to the best of our ability to answer any questions that you have.

Even when we can't see Him, God is there loving us, strengthening us and giving us what we need to face each and every day. God Bless.
