How can I find out who's collecting my father's death benefits?

I was told this benefit of $255 only goes to the surviving spouse. I was not entitled to it when Mom died.

Jeff, when both of my parents had passed, there was one benefit, I think it was $255 dollars from the social security. Is that what you are looking for? Usually it would go into your Dad's Estate to help pay on any bills that are outstanding, and later be divided among the listed heirs on the Will.

What death benefits? Pension? 401(k)? Life Insurance?  The easiest way is to ask your Father's spouse, siblings, children.
