Do I need to apply as a caregiver since I quit working years ago to take care of my mother?

I asked a question right before about things and I didn't know if I need to apply to be a caregiver cause that's what my mother's home health told me to do. But I'm having constant headaches and like I have said she flashes me back to the abusive marriage I had before this. I'm having panic attacks that are horrible and not to mention she admits to she calls it "boxed me in" on purpose. I can barely leave the house.

This person posted recently saying she is now seeing a lawyer concerning her Moms problems and getting her help.

Bales, re-read the answers from your question of a few months ago. https://www.agingcare.com/questions/taking-care-of-mom-but-she-is-giving-me-horrible-panic-attacks-431296.htm

As for apply to be a caregiver, I don't even know where you would even begin. I helped my two very elderly parents and never needed to apply. Or are you referring to Medicaid to see if the State would pay you to be your Mom's caregiver?

You do not need to apply with any one to be your mother's caregiver. Your profile says your mother has depression. Is she getting proper treatment for it? Her "boxing you in" on purpose sounds disturbing and manipulative coming from a mother.

It seems that you yourself need help with your constant headaches and your panic attacks. You need to go see a doctor and possibly a therapist to deal with the trauma of your abusive marriage and how to deal with your mother.
