My brother (64) has been recovering from Necrotizing Fasciitis since Dec 2017 and is now at the point where his private insurance is running out. Any suggestions?

Private insurance is running out and he will most likely be discharged to a SNF nursing home. Medicaid has been applied for but not approved and I have called 52 nursing home facilities in a three county wide search in and around St. Louis County, MO. NO one has a Male Prequalified Medicaid Bed available???? I suspect although no one has told me that his wounds are still too severe for a facility to take him as Medicaid has a very strict wound control assessment. Anybody have suggestions on how to get my brother in a facility? I am out of state and unable to care for him. Thxs!

I think you should call the hospital he's in and ask for the discharge planner or social worker assigned to his case. It's their job to know where the vacancies are and what insurance is accepted by the local facilities. That's how it works around here, anyway. Good luck!
