How do I stop feeling guilty because I haven't brought my mom home to hospice?

vhall, was going home your Mom's wish? Some times when an older person says they want to go home, they mean their childhood home. I assume that wouldn't be possible.

I know it wasn't for my own Mom because her late parents no longer owned the home. Thus, Mom being in long-term-care was the best choice for her as for her it took a village to help her daily. We can't be guilty of something we had no control over. And the best of intention wishes cannot always be granted.

With your Mom being a nursing home, chances are Hospice is visiting on a regular basis. For my Mom, the Hospice nurse or Aide or volunteer would drop in not on a scheduled visit but because they were in the building. It worked out quite well.

Is your mother dying? Does she want to come home? Is it feasible to bring her home? More information is needed to even consider your question.
