Why me???? I’m all alone & have MS & am poor! But she had money but she’s panicked cause she’s going thru it by paying a helper...@ $17 an hour! Why can’t she get Medicaid?????
Debra, could you give us more information. Such as who is "she", and what medical issues does she have that require a helper.
A person can apply for Medicaid [which is different from Medicare] by calling their State run Medicaid office. One would need to have very little money to their name before Medicaid would start helping them out. Could be she has too much money to qualify. And if she is young, her fear is that she would run out of funds to take care of herself.
I assumed you had contracted the Social Security Disability? If not, give them a call as soon as possible to see what programs are available for you. I realize there are various degrees of MS which make it difficult to support ones self or be able to work right up to retirement.
