Sbatch61 Asked November 2017

Update on a question I asked months ago. I am the one who was taking care of my dad and step mom for 2 years and just a recap.

My username is Sbatch60 having a hard time getting back in here so I’m going this route. I am the one who was taking care of my dad and step mom for 2 years and just a recap. Step mom 92 and dad 95 were both on hospice and I believe my question was what do I do if my step mom’s son doesn’t pick her up. Well the Lord called my sweet daddy home October 30,2017 at 1:50am that morning, I was with him till the end. Well I will tell you that my step mom’s son did come and pick up his mother November 18,2017. I still go to bed after midnight. Hope I can get my sleep pattern back to what ever normal is. I still have not had a good cry since my daddy passed. Now that I have no one that I am caring for, I’m sure I will. I’m still very tired and taking care of two people can be overwhelming and now I have all this time on my hands, I will get back to doing what I have missed out on for two years, and thats going to church. I thank the Lord I had this time with my dad and mom, but now I’m going to just rest till after the new year and see what my next journey will be. I have learned a lot just like mom’s son and his wife will see. It’s not easy, but the Lord gave me strength through it all, that’s how I did it for two years. And am thankful for all prayers and my sister who came and stayed with me two weeks at a time when she came. I have truly been blessed.

Sbatch61, my heartfelt sympathy for the recent passing of your Dad.

Now that you have free time, it does become difficult to get back to the pre-caregiving mode. It's been a year since my Dad passed, and almost two years for my Mom, and I just cannot kick-start myself to get things done like I did in the past. Caregiving has a way of aging one quickly :( So don't be surprised if it takes time to put one foot in front of the other.

You are lucky to have faith in your life, I have heard it can be a real comfort.
