If a spouse is approved for Medicaid, do they decide what type of care is necessary?

yes they will assess your spouse and determine what is going on as far as their financial situation , and their physical and psychological status . It depends on your state but in California we have a Medicaid waver program. The patient is evaluated by a nurse and then they are approved for either assisted living, or skilled nursing. Then they wait ...........and wait .......for an opening at a facility that accepts Medicaid.
