About a month ago we took my grandmother with dementia to the hospital because she went almost 6 days without eating. They gave us a prescription for megestrone acetate to help her eat. She was doing great, eating a couple small things throughout the day. She's still on it, but she only has 5 days left of a months prescription, but now I've only gotten her to eat half a beech nut on the go (around 2 ounces), in 2 days. She's sleeping more, and has trouble "down there". She has wet the bed around 4 times in 2 days now. Before she might have wet it once a month. She has had 3 bladder infections since February, so I doubt that helping. But how is she not hungry, while on meds that physically make her hungry?

I'm so sorry, I know this is very worrying. After my dad's stroke he couldn't eat after being put on 10 new meds. We got those adjusted and he was able to eat again. But then he had heart failure and he was dying and he ate very little. It was very hard.
I would suggest taking your grandmother back to the doctor. Is it the meds? Another undiagnosed medical situation? I would also suggest giving her Boost and Ensure to help give her some nutrients. I know she cannot go on like this and needs food. I also tried to tempt my dad with all his favorite foods. Even though he was a diabetic, I was so desperate for him to eat.
I know its like trying to find a needle in a haystack, but I hope you can out why your grandmother has stopped eating so regularly.
