How can I help my elderly grandma who is sick with flu-like symptoms?

3 weeks ago she started getting bad delirium, restless where she would lay in bed just staring at everything or she was sleeping 24 hours. We had figured it was her Alzheimers. When we took her into the doctor, they discovered a UTI. She took her antibiotics and was doing a lot better. Now a week later, starting yesterday she's running a fever, throwing up, not eating, hallucinating, weakness, having a little more trouble breathing than normal, and she said "The burning is back". I can't get her in with the doctor until tomorrow. She's 91 years old. I don't know if this is just a UTI, but that's the only thing I can think of. Is there anything I can do to help her until we're the doctor tomorrow?

Transport via ambulance, by now she is dehydrated.
As usual, I agree with Barb and CM!

So sorry she is sick.

Was  she on Cipro or another antibiotic less well-tolerated in the elderly?
Call the  (nurse at the E.R.)...hurry.
She may actually have the flu.  Becoming dehydrated is an emergency for her.

Agree with CM; call 911 or your local equivalent if you don't have the means or ability to transport her yourself. Don't take NO for an answer.

And let us know what happens!

PS Be sure to tell them about the uti, and take the px with you if you still have it. And stay with her to answer any questions.

ER. If she's running a fever - often elderly people's immune systems don't produce a fever with a standard uti - the infection has got the bit between its teeth and is galloping. Don't wait. This is not "just" an anything.
