Does the POA have to show the POA document if requested by a family member?

bobgrey Feb 2017

im trying to find out what type of poa she im in Canada and there is 3 types of poas...also originally the poa was for both mom and dad on the same poa but he unforuntaly passed away wich would make that poa null and void and we are not sure if there is a new one made up and trying to get an answer from the old poa is not the easiest thing to do

I read that as confidentiality about their finances and business dealings not about the existence of a POA or the contents of the POA.

Time to go re-read the POA. :-)

No sharing. Read your POA. You are expected to maintain confidentiality unless the person who gave you POA says otherwise.

Well, if you are trying to conduct business on the grantor's behalf, you have to show it. Otherwise, you don't have to randomly produce it upon request. But, I don't see any reason why you wouldn't want to if it will clear up who is responsible for what. Would it settle any arguments as to why you think you have the authority to take whatever actions you are taking?
