Can a widow of a veteran get assistance for a nursing home?

My mom has dementia and needs to be in a nursing home is she e eligible for government assistance. My dad passed away 8 years ago

She will not get enough from VA to cover a nursing home. Your best bet is Medicaid through your county social services.
