If my father receives VA benefits would he be able to drop his supplemental health insurance?

When deciding whether to keep supplements, I look at what claims and how much it paid. Sometimes we end up paying more for a supplement than it ends up paying. If you see that is the case, you may want to drop it.

One thing I wondered, Pam, is if there is no supplement, would the VA pay the cost itself? That would be a huge question to me.

VA is required to bill private health insurance providers for medical care, supplies and prescriptions provided for treatment of Veterans’ nonservice-connected conditions. Generally, VA cannot bill Medicare, but can bill Medicare supplemental health insurance for covered services. Keep the policy.
