Does anyone else experience this with their loved one? When it first started happening I thought it was his hearing so I took him to an audiologist to have a hearing test. His hearing is fine. I'm thinking that when he hears me talk he needs time to pay attention so he can process what I say. He usually understands the second time I say what I want to communicate. This is a minor irritation that I have grown used to. I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

Also, people with advancing dementia tend to understand better when the voice they're hearing is a little on the lower side (this has nothing to do with actual hearing capability). As women our voices tend to be on the higher side. Don't lower your voice to a baritone but you might try taking it down an octave and seeing if this doesn't help your husband catch what you're saying without having to repeat yourself all the time.
