Where to have my friend, who is taking care of her mother with dementia, find someone to talk to?

She really needs someone to talk to.

I tell EVERYONE with a loved one with dementia - or just aging relative(s) to check this site! It's awesomely helpful!

KarenChes, have your friend come here to these forums and sign up... if it wasn't for this wonderful group of writers with all their great ideas and shoulders to cry on, I would have been totally lost as everything was so new to me.

What is so nice about being on the forums, there is no time table, no running to get somewhere, your friend can write at midnight and by the next day there would be answers :)

I took care of my mom who had vascular dementia for the last 3 years. I lived with her and although it was sometimes difficult, we had wonderful moments until the end, when she died peacefully in December at home at the age of 87. Your friend can send me an email if she needs to talk or has any questions.

I also care for my mother who was diagnosed with moderate dementia, as well as my father, who is sharp as a tack and gets very frustrated with my mom. Some days are better than others.

A local support group for caregivers of persons with dementia can be a lifesaver! Help her locate one.

Cyber support groups are pretty good, too! Browse through this discussion board and see if it is something you would recommend to her.
