What options do I have?

My 98yr old aunt is living in a assisted living facility. Her pensions are covering those costs but she needs additional care. She has a 24 hr aide who stays with her. The cost for that is over $5000 a month. She does not qualify for hospice and her money is going to run out soon. What should I do?

I thought maybe the extra care was an "add on" by the AL?

When my mom had a private caregiver for her awake hours in AL we were paying close to $12,000 a month - and like I said, that wasn't even round the clock care.

$5000 would be $166 a day and $6.94 per hour. Who are you kidding?

Even with the increase of cost, it should be less than that

See if you can move her to next level of care, or nursing home. Then you can get rid of the $5000. a month, and they will take care of that stuff
