Would my father be eligible for Military Pension?

My father is 90, has a pension from his employer and SS. He has a couple of small IRA's. Would he be eligible for military pension? He was in the SeaBees in WWII and served in Papua New Guinea.

Thank you for any help :)

PNW, Aging Care website has a section regarding Military Veterans. See if there is any information that would help in your case. https://www.agingcare.com/Veterans-Assistance

Retirement from the military is not a VA benefit. Pension is a non-service connected disability benefit for war period veterans and their surviving spouses.

My dad served four years during WWII and he receives a small pension, aid and attendance and medical care through the VA. The program he qualified for is for lower income veterans. Sorry, I don't know the income limits but it would be worth looking into. There are also other programs where pension is available for those Veterans that did not retire from the military. You should be able to find info on the VA website.

Sorry forgot to add...he may also be eligible for VA aid and attendance which could mean a stipend to pay in home caregivers.

No, he is not eligible for a military pension. To receive a military pension there are many eligibility requirements...the first being at least 20 years served...I'm assuming he served a draft term of 2 or 4 years correct?

What he could be eligible for is VA health care if his wartime service qualifies. You could talk to a VA coordinator or check the eligibility requirements for this online. The one drawback is that they are slow to make appointments or schedule needed surgeries so if you have other insurance that would be better...He could also qualify for a VA nursing home.
