A caregiver (under 21 & no ID) helping a client purchase liquor. Is this legal?

The client is in a wheelchair and the underaged caregiver carries the liquor to the counter to pay for it. When the clerk asked her for an ID to purchase the liquor, she stated she didn't need one because she was his caregiver and couldn't provide an ID to the clerk.

No ID, no sale. Underage, no sale. The store could be heavily fined and/or lose their liquor license if this is an on going thing. I am surprised that your boss is allowing his/her Clerks to ring up such sales.

Some day a sting will present itself, where the police with the help of underage cadets, will try to buy liquor.

The answer probably depends on where you live. Where I live they won't sell the booze if someone underage even touches it. For example, a daughter helping her dad take multiple bottles of christmas wine off the shelf and putting it in the cart resulted in no wine sold to that family.
