How can an elderly parent manages to gamble away money?

This has always been a problem ever since I can remember. She should have enough money to sustain her month after month, but I'm still getting NSF notifications from the bank.
She says that gambling makes her happy and she's lonely most of the time. I just found out she's taking loans out of her life insurance.
I am at my wits end

The casinos are, unfortunately, socialization for lonely seniors. Bright lights, bells and whistles and ever so friendly attendants to help them fritter away the pension. The country is now saturated with the tribal casinos. I doubt you're more than an hour away from one of those d*mn places anywhere in the US.

More info would be helpful. You have any control of the funds? The elder still mentally competent?

You are getting NSF notifications from the bank. Are you on her bank account as one of the account holders? Tell us just a little more and perhaps a solution is there
