If there is nothing in writing, does the oldest child automatically become my parents guardian in the state of Florida?

I would like to be dads guardian since he was admitted to ICU heartbeat was 150 per minute had trouble breathing brother decided no respirator should be given I would not keep him on against medical advice but I think at least deserves a chance.

That's my point we all live in Ohio and parents in Miami......I think I will talk to hospital when I get there. Pray for me cuz I am praying for all of you

Rosalind, our preferred hospital gives me a card with a 4 digit number which only I have, to verify that I am who I am when I call for information. That way anyone who might pretend to be me, or call for information, wouldn't have the "secret number" and wouldn't get any information.

My brother is POA and he took over financially and medically after my Dad died. My Mom is in a nursing home, he is in charge of her care and any decisions that need to be made.. He is older. It was in the will, so I don't know if the oldest automatically becomes POA or not. It seems like a lot of responsibility.

He signed to have parents moved from hospital to rehab center now dad is back. In hospital and the hospital always say that they need permission from him such as central line put in, it could be anyone on that phone how does hospital kno it is him

Guardianship is not "automatic", it involves a court hearing with all concerned parties. On the other hand, the Judge will "automatically" reject any prospective Guardian with bad credit or a criminal history or who lives outside the court's jurisdiction.
