I am caring for a man who has dementia and heart disease. Can I get in trouble if something bad happens to him - heart attack, stroke, etc?

He's my close friend for 27 years. Can his daughter get me in trouble if he has and accident or has a heart attack or stroke? She's a mean person. The man from Adult Protective Services says not to worry about it but I do anyway. Please comment if you know the answer. Thank you. I'm not a licensed or insured caregiver.

SisterSue, I read some back story on this matter when you wrote https://www.agingcare.com/questions/Who-is-legally-responsible-for-dementia-patients-healthcare-188074.htm

Hope you sent the friend's daughter a letter saying that you are giving notice that you will no longer be that friend's caregiver. Good heavens, you are 68 years old, and I always believed that seniors should not be taking care of older seniors... we don't have the energy any more!! Look at the stress you are under.

I'm confused? Is he in a NH?

Sistersue, your last question was about taking a friend on outings from a NH. Does his daughter want him in a facility for her peace of mind? Is your friend resistant to this idea?
