My Mom (90) can't tell when she is going to have a BM, is this part of the dementia?

I had the complete opposite problem. I would have to sit with my mom and encourage her to push. Know that was part of the dementia/aging process so if I had to guess, I would say yes to your question. Think if you can figure out when mom is going, morning, after dinner, etc., perhaps you could get her to the toilet in time. Good luck, this is definitely not a pleasant problem 😱

This happened to my Mom as well. I had the carpet cleaners in several times in just a few months! (YUK) I noticed that in the Memory care facility we ultimately used, they took everyone to the toilet several times a day to reduce these incidents. And then of course, the disapocable underwear came in handy too. Those not handling dementia patients think the disease only affects memory for information. But along the way, it changes the ability to know how to eat, walk, talk, etc. God bless all of us.

Has her doctor discussed incontinence with you? Does she also have bladder incontinence? I would seek out the cause and the learn how to handle it.
