My Mom has episodes of vivid dreams/hallucinations/personality change often...anyone else seeing this?

She is 93. PWP, and I've been her 24/7/365 carepartner/giver for 8 yrs. She's very negative and 'can't do' most of the time until these 'episodes' start. They last for a couple of days during which she talks all the time while she sleeps, see's things that aren't there while she's awake, and tries to do stuff that she swears she can't do any other time. The odd thing is, she's more cooperative during these 'episodes', more like the person I used to know. Anyone else dealing with this type of thing? Thanks.

No infections of any sort and no strong meds...all she takes is an anti-depressant and a mild one at that. This has been happening since 4/12,at first months apart but more recently it can be one a week. It's amazing how different she becomes, like caring for two different people...but there are signs that show she's heading for one. If she starts asking for ice cream? The time has come! I was just wondering if anyone else is dealing with this.

Do you have her tested for UTIS during these episodes? Infections in the elderly can cause severe behavioral symptoms.
