How would you answer a 9:30 p.m. telephone call from dementia patient saying: My phone is not working this morning?

It is evident phone is working and it is not morning. I don't ask questions like 'why do you think your phone's not working?' Answering questions befuddles her. I told her she needs to get back in her bed. It is not morning but night.

I would hazard a guess that her remote control is not working.

What sort of dementia? Could she be muddling nouns? In that case, you might like to find out what piece of equipment is not working - clearly it's not the phone.

9.30 pm is quite early for an adult to be in bed, by the way. Is that normal for her?

Is this person with dementia at home alone at night? If she's confused enough to not know that it's 9:30 p.m. you might want to hire someone to stay with her overnight. She probably shouldn't be alone.
