I believe SSI in this case refers to Supplemental Security Income because the persons never worked in this country to pay into Social Security. It is based upon low income, automatically qualifies one for MediCal. The doctor fills out some of the paperwork.

Doing searches, I have seen senior centers specializing in specific cultures, such as Asian, for one example. I think what you would have is called an In Home Supportive Services person, or IHHS.

? Are they on Medicaid? Were they married to a serviceman that was enlisted during war time? There is a benefit available to spouses of servicemen call "Aid and Attendance". From the sounds of it, they may qualify, and are of the generation where many men and women served our country during wartime. Check with the Veteran's Administration.
