Teresuz Asked July 2014

The son of the lady I take care of 2 weeks a month is over medicating her. What can I do?

I called to refill her prescription because they're only six sleeping pills left, and the pharmacist said that that prescription should've been good until September it's only the end of July right now! She is only supposed to have one I'm night, I haven't given her any in the last two nights and she's been fine and has slept through the night with no problems. I did say something to him, and he told me to look up a good sleeping pill that I could get over-the-counter.

*Someone's* taking the meds. I'd call the doc and let them know that I tried refilling rx and that it disappeared so fast, just for their info. They can't comment, but it might be helpful for the doc's office to know.

Oh sorry the mom is not doing anything differently that I see, she actually does pretty well when I'm here.

He's told me in the past when she wakes up at night he'll give her two pills to put her back to sleep, i'm not sure what he gives her when she first goes to sleep at night, I'm not here when he is.

What is the Mom doing differently that makes you think she is being over medicated with sleeping pills?

Because you confronted the son and he because defensive because of his answer back to you, maybe, just maybe the son is borrowing his Mom's sleeping pills. I could wrong.
