Joint bank account, will it affect my credit?

I am on my parents bank account. If my dad writes out a check for more than what we have available, will it affect my credit?

Thank you for your responses. I will ask about the overdraft protection for sure!

Debra, also ask your banker if they have overdraft protection, such as being tied to a credit card.

Yes, I remember. Good move to go to the bank and see what you can do. Good Luck. You could ask the bank what types of things they report to the credit bureaus. It's most likely loans like cars and mortgages, and credit cards.

Thank you vegaslady, you always come to my rescue. I think I am going to go to the bank next week and explain what is going on. (I think he is going to write out a check to someone to support his "invention" Remember me? Thanks again!

I doubt if your bank account is showing up on your credit reports, so this is unlikely to affect your credit. Take steps to prevent dad from getting into financial trouble and incurring a lot of bank fees. There's a problem underlying the question, probably a medical issue that needs to be identified and dealt with.
