What reasons are valid to take control of an assisted living residents medication self administrating privileges away?

My mother is aware of the medications and the amounts and times she is supposed to take them and has been doing so without any problems and a staff member at the AZ assisted living facility she lives at came and took all of her medication away except one pain medication and has not given her any of her other medication in three days. What can I do about this?
