It does not make sense. A Guardian is appointed for the "person" and the "estate" of the ward. There is no third category. You really need to read the court documents. As a ward of the state, the state will dispose of the body. Nothing more, no funeral, no wake. Been there. Done that.
Ok. Let me try again. My mother is disabled and is on SSI and Medicate. I am her legal guardian - but only as far as legal decisions go. I'm not responsible for her medically or financially. Does that make sense?
Wait a second. She is either a ward of the state or she is your ward, but she cannot be both. If the courts made her a ward of the state, that means they removed any previous guardians. Read the court decision.
