If I file a 1099 instead of a w2 then I fail to meet requirements for EIC. is it possible to file a w2 rather than 1099?

My gram paid me to be her 24/7 caregiver. I would like to file my taxes correctly but i am not sure how. A fair portion of my wage went straight back to care for her. If i file a 1099 then i fail to meet the "earned income" requirements to make me eligilble to receive this credit. Its the hardest job i have ever had and such a slap in the face to see the money i truly WORKED for cant be applied towards a hefty credit that i feel i earned

You opted for the 1099 method to avoid withholding and FICA during the year. Now you see you can't have it both ways. So if you want W-2's you will have to change your payroll method.
