My Mom lives on her SSI $1600. Is there a facility that would take this for her care?

Does it need to be a state facility? Not sure where to start, but my mother only has 1600.00 a month to pay for her living. should I start looking/pricing facilities first? should I talk to a navigator first?

When you start looking at places, ask about lower cost options. It took my about 4 conversations before anyone mentioned that if Mom had a room-mate, it would be cheaper.

If she is the widow of a WWII veteran, she may be able to get VA "aid and attendance". Call and visit facilities near you. Some will help with the financial aid forms. Navigators will limit you to the homes they are paid to work with, so you might have to contact several Navigators, a bit inconvenient. I found it almost impossible to get prices without a visit to the site.

What type of place are you talking about? The answer you can anticipate is no, for whatever kind you are thinking of if it is providing any type of medical care. Can you be more specific about what you think is needed in this situation.
