Mom's throwing fits more often and housekeeping is less organized, but not filthy. Any advice?

She has one child that stays her distance due to years of conflict in their relationship. She is throwing fits more often. Housekeeping is less organized, but not filthy

Not sure what you are talking about. My mom in her 90s w/ Alz and dementia gets upset if things aren't cleared out of her sight. She will talk about how messy it is. She and I (and my sibs) have different ideas about organization and cleanliness. We do, however, have a lady who comes in once a month to give the house a good going-over. I find it helps the person doing the care giving to have one less thing to think about.

It could be the beginning of Alzheimers or Dementia, but it could be depression. If she is home alone all the time she may feel like, "why bother to clean, no one ever comes over!" There are a lot of reasons she may be like this. You need to watch her closer or have her see her doctor if you are worried.

Yes, I apologize to those of you who never make nasty comments when it is early in the morning...and are perfect.

Such a pleasant, helpful, not at all nasty response. NOT! (Major Eye Roll). Who "the h***" talks like that to strangers looking for support

What the h*** are you talking about? What age is this mother and child? I need more information. A messy house does not make an abuse case, nor is it a sign in and of itself of dementia.

Organization stuff common with Alzheimers/dementia as is mood and personality swings. She should be officially diagnosed though before next steps should be taken. Simplify her environment and perhaps someone else take over the cleaning?

There is not much info. on this, what is triggering her episodes? Has she been diagnosed with dementia or Alz. If she has dementia it wouldn't be unusual for her organization skills to be out of sorts, as she probably gets confused with it all. She may not remember where things belong or she misplaces things easily. She should be to the Dr. to be diagnosed and put on meds to help her cope. I take it that you are just a friend or family member, someone needs to take control here for her safety. Best of luck I hope some of this helps.
