How do I get transportation to and from minor surgeries when I need that driver to be one that can stay while the procedure is done?

I am scheduled for two minor surgeries. I'm new to the area and don't know anyone well enough to ask them to take that much time out of their day. I have no relatives who live close. The person to drive me must stay at the treatment center during the procedures and then take me home. After the surgeries I will need some help during the recovery period with meals, pet care (I have a cat), bathing and dressing, groceries and light household chores. If I don't find at least the driver I will have to cancel my surgeries.

I worked for Home Instead, and they would provide such a service. I would drive clients to appointments or other errands, and also be a companion/homemaker as needed. It cost maybe $25 an hour for a three-hour minimum.

Google senior home care to find companies in your area. Good luck.

Call your distant family and explain your predicament, I think at least one of them could help you out. Your other option is to check into rehab for a week or two, which your MD can help you with. If you carry good health insurance, they often have a help line you can call. I went to rehab after my knee surgery and it was two weeks of very good care in a nursing home attached to the hospital, with PT on site.

A Private In Home Health Care Service might help. Some offer temporary care needs that you are looking for. It will cost if you can afford their services. Your local counsel on aging should be able to help you locate an agency.

Is there a social worker at the hospital where your surgeries are to be done? If so, the social worker may know what transportation and other aid might be available. Also, look up your town and/or county offices for senior services. They may provide transportation to and from medical appointments. Call some home health care agencies and ask how much a home health aid would cost to accompany you to your surgeries . Good luck.

Try the council on aging, or an agency that helps people, or a business temp agency, try a church, look in the paper for ads that they want to help people, ask your neighbors, ask your co-workers if you have co-workers. Be inventive and resourceful in looking for help.
