How do I get mom to agree to talk to lawyer when she is suffering with depression and anxiety?

Yesterday was a bad day for mom the day before she was worrying about legal issues and asked me what about what should she do when she had a decent day.
Just had surgery last week and so absorbed in depression doesn't even mention
surgery. Didn't realize how difficult a time bringing her home would be when they released her from treatment at geriatrics behavior. They said they would help her with a plan but as soon as I said she still lived in her home they said fine if someone home to help her take pills she would be fine....???REALLY??
got a release form and nothing else. Now she is so obsessed with everything
in house being broke. My poor brother lives with her and has depression for 35 yrs. himself. Part of the problem is mom has dealt with his treatment and knows the effect of the meds. and has made her more stressed. Would like to get a POA but she seems to think someone else outside family should handle this.
In her mind she doesn't want me to have the burden and financial responsibility.
We aren't DOnald Trump and this imaginary person as far as I know doesn't exist. She has scrimped all her life and the money she has is going to be gobbled up by nursing home and she is determined to not let that happen.
HElp?????How do I get her to get at least a POA?

So sorry to hear of your circumstances. I agree with Eyeishlass pull the document you need from the internet, I wish I'd done that. Paid a greedy attorney 500.00 for simple documents for both parents. Sorry for what you're dealing with I do understand!

I'm sorry, it WAS a legal document. I meant that we didn't have a lawyer draw it up.

My dad was in a situation in which he needed me to be POA immediately. The social worker at his NH printed off a POA from the internet and we signed it. I never had a problem using it. It wasn't a fancy legal document but it gave me access to his bank accounts, his annuity, and anything else we needed it for. I suppose ideally one would go to an attorney for a POA but we did just fine with ours.
