I live in the NY area. I have had the hardest time getting physical therapy at home for my mom. Anyone know how?

Need a referral to a company in NY that provides physical therapy for seniors at home. Home care agencies only want to send home care attendants that I do not need.

Thanks to all that answered. I got a DVD and my notes when she was in therapy a few years ago and have at it.

Thanks Yaya. The referal was made. The agencies will not send a therapist.

Physical therapists are usually provided through local visiting nurse associations (VNA). A call to her primary care physician should be enough to get you started since s/he would need to make the referral anyway. An RN would schedule an appointment to come out and do an assessment of your mom's needs and then a PT would be assigned to her. Medicare will pay for it as long as her PCP referred, her for services.

Try yelp and also type in the name of PT and reviews. Also call your doctor for referrals.

I am doing that now and will check Angies list. Recommendations from people who have had positive outcomes holds a lot more weight that a google search. Thanks for your response.
