I'm sole caregiver for mom who's 91. I work full time, come home and tend to her. My brother lives in NY. I am losing it, overwhelmed.

She has severe back problems, but will not use walker. I'm getting real short with her and regret it, afterwards. Getting real depressed

Have you ever tried to get some respite care? Maybe one night per week, so you can relax after work?

We have all "gotten short" with the person we were taking care of. What sorts of things set you off? Her refusal to use the walker?

As a general comment, lots of us have trouble accepting that our loved one has dementia, and that they are no longer fully in control of their behavior. Some of us feel that they are acting that way on purpose. Was your mother a good or evil mother? Lots of folks end up caring for the parent that used to torture them.

We're here to listen, and we want details.
