I feel as if my father is suffering from brain death. What can I do for him?

my dad is 81 yo ,He is awake all over night and semiconciuos during day ... he refuses to lie on bed ... saliva is drippling from his mouth all the time... he refuses to use his hands even to eat .. or his legs except to go to the bathroom .... he is severly depressed .. recieving an antidepressant tablet .. with no effect ... i am deep;y depressed feel as if i am severly sqeezed from inside me .. i do not know what i can do for him ???

Has he been diagnosed with something in addition to depression? It sounds like there is really more going on here. I agree with vw9729 that a visit to the doctor is called for.

I strongly suggest you get him to the doctor right away. He needs help, and the doctors can't help him if they don't know what is going on. Go with him to see the doctor and you tell the doctor what's going on. It sounds like his medicine either isn't working, it's too strong or he needs it increased or something. I don't believe he's suffering from "brain death" though but something is going on and he (and you) need help. ((HUGS))
