Being asked to leave Assisted Living. Do we still need to give 30 days notice?

My father is in an assisted living and the executive director verbally told us she is asking my father to leave because they can not care for him any longer. She said she would be sending a letter but so far it has not arrived but we took the threat literally and have made other arrangements. Can we assume the executive director negated the contract by the statement and we can leave now without 30 day notice needed ?

I'm so glad you found another place. Is it a dementia unit?

Since they told you he has to leave, I hope they aren't expecting a 30-day notice. If you have any trouble over this, contact the Ombudsman.

It happened to us when I used to care for N. Never assume anything. Make an appearance As Soon As Possible!!! Get the paperwork. I made multiple calls and my sister went down in person. Don't let anyone push you around. Did they tell you WHY the feel that they cannot care for him?
