Does anyone have any ideas for games or puzzles that they like to do with their loved one?

Even when we were young, my mom was never interested games or crossword puzzles or crafts. I just ordered a few things from an ALZ product site. Any clever ways to introduce these things into her routine? When she gets nervous, bored or stressed, she tugs and pulls on her skin (like a security blanket) or scratches deeply into her scalp until she bleeds. I'm looking for ways to substitute the tugging and scratching for something less harmful. Thanks all!

Late Sunday afternoon, can get boring, Get out the games! Connect Four helps cognitive function. It you are a people watcher, fascinated with how people are similar or different, or unique in their behaviors, watch how others play this game. My husband, disinterested at first, actually started winning. He then smiled.

How about doing a memory scrapbook together. Have her pick out old pictures and have her tell you a story about the picture. It keeps her hands and mind occupied as you scrapbook the picture and the memoirs. I assume her long term memory is not affected by her condition. Let her decide about the embellishments for the scrapbook page. Keep the layouts simple. The supplies need not be elaborate. Check out frugal scrapbooking websites. Remember you will be doing the the layouts as she decides how it will all come together. Good luck.
