I would like to share this poem, author unknown

Please don't try and make me Remember…
Don't try and make me Understand…
Just let me Rest and know you're with Me…
Kiss my Cheek and Hold my Hand

I'm Confused beyond your concept…
I am Sad and Sick and Lost…
All I know is that I need You…
To be with me at all cost.

Don't lose your patience with Me…
Please don't Scold, or Curse, or Cry….
I can't help the way I am Acting…
Although I will try.

Just Remember that I need You…
And the Best of me is Gone…
Please just stay beside me…
Until my Life is Done.

We all need to give and receive compassion.
We all need to care, and to be cared about.

This poem is a reminder, so I am bringing it up to the top.....

Please don't try and make me Remember…
Don't try and make me Understand…
Just let me Rest and know you're with Me…
Kiss my Cheek and Hold my Hand

I'm Confused beyond your concept…
I am Sad and Sick and Lost…
All I know is that I need You…
To be with me at all cost.

Don't lose your patience with Me…
Please don't Scold, or Curse, or Cry….
I can't help the way I am Acting…
Although I will try.

Just Remember that I need You…
And the Best of me is Gone…
Please just stay beside me…
Until my Life is Done.

Beautiful, luvmom. Thank you for reminding all of us. I will print out for my Mother's other caregivers and post where we all shall see it every day, all day long. As you said: the bathroom, and the dining table, and the kitchen sink.
Aduratz: it may make your Mother cry, but the message will reassure her, perhaps, that others will think more and not just react to unpredictable behaviors. Blessings to you.

Thank you for sharing that. I cry every time I read it but it is a good reminder of how important patience and love are to an elderly parent. My dad was recently diagnosed with possible dementia/alzheimer's and today that diagnosis was confirmed. I am debating printing this out and hanging it in his room at the nursing home as a reminder to everyone to be patient with him, but I'm afraid it may make my mother cry each time she sees it. Any thoughts??
