My sister and I are taking turns caring for my parents in their home. Is this a good way to handle their care?

My sister and I are taking care of our parents in their home. I am there 3 days (2 nights); she is next door the rest of the time. We are figuring out our answers as we come up with questions/issues.

For others who have been in the same situation, is this how you handled it too?

EXPERT Carol Bradley Bursack, CDSGF Oct 2009
Everyone does this to some extent as no two situations are the same. Sites like this, where you can read about the experiences of many caregivers, are a great help.

Also, check your state Web site for aging services. Most states offer some help with training family caregivers through the Family Caregiver Support Program.

You are off to a good start.
Take care,
Carol
