Any younger wives with older husbands with Alzheimer’s/dementia? How are you coping?

A support group may be helpful. Check the Alzheimer's Association website.

This year I will be 54, pops will be 70. When he experienced the injury that caused his Traumatic Brain Injury related dementia I was 38 and he was 54. My personality is sort of optimistic realist. I cope in a lot of ways, but primarily I cope by tackling each thing as it comes along, accepting him as he is, and remembering that I am important too. Laughter is a huge help. Keeping it real with everyone in our life helps. Being brave enough to step outside the box and try new ways of making our life better helps. Did I mention laughter? It can keep you sane.
