Mom has a low grade fever.

Mom was off kilter last week. i suspected a UTI. After a few bad days she was her old self again. Then the lab results came back and she has a UTI. Mom is stage 6 alzheimers and in a nursing home. Now she is off kilter again after starting the antibiotics and she is running a fever of 99. something. I want the NH not to wake her tomorrow morning at 7;30 a.m. and allow her to sleep in. Refrain from waking her for breakfast. I will bring breakfast in at 10a.m. Is this a good idea? Would love your comments for future use as well.

suzmarie,

I am sorry to hear about your problems caring for someone with a UTI. Urinary Tract Infections are common health problems among the elderly and can be different than UTI's in the younger populations.

Here are two articles on elderly UTI's that our editors wrote that will help you when caring for your elderly loved one.
