Aging skin.

My Aunt woke up yesterday bleeding for her shin. She scratched it . Weput a bandaid on, that was wrong, it bled so bad in a second, it was filled and leaking. So I cleaned up,and put some triple anti-biotic cream and put her in her recliner with her legs up. It stopped and hasn't bled since. Is this normal?Did I do the right thing. Is there some place I can read about caring physically for the aging?

My aunt's doctor explained to us, that skin becomes thinner as it ages. Thus, bruises and bleeding. If she is on any type of blood thinner, she is more prone to bleeding.
