continuing from original statement. . . what are legal implications if we were to sell both our homes and buy a new one that would give each of us our own space but allow them to live "with" us?? I understand that medicare will withhold payment on funds that are "transfered" within 5 years of someone needing additional care. My parents are 88 & 90 and Dad has alzheimers and may need additional care in the next year or so. I would like to keep them close, but am afraid of "mis-using" their money in a way that would be detrimental in the long run. Can we combine our households now if additional care for one parent may be needed within 5 years??
